“So live as if you were living already for the second time and as if you had acted the first time as wrongly as you are about to act now!”

  1. I was struck by Victor Frankl’s words: to live as if you were living already for the second time. This line made me think that in life, we are only given one life and we are given the opportunity to live our life to the fullest it may sounds cliché but that’s what life is all about for me because any minute, any hour, any day, life could be taken away and I’ll never know when it is going to end. Second chances aren't always a guarantee. So, we must use our first chance wisely.
I remembered one of my teachers telling us about life. That we should not waste our time because we can only be given one chance and can you imagine lying on your bed all day, sitting and doing nothing? You are just wasting a day in your life. She said to us that, we should do something to make our life more meaningful, have fun and do something memorable. There are other people saying to themselves, “I wish I did this when I was still young, I wish I did this when I still had the time, I wish…I wish…” this would make us only regret and is it not nice to live life without regrets? As long as we still have the time to do things in our life, do it. Live as if you were living already for the second time. Live as if there is no tomorrow but always remember to act as if you had the first time as wrongly as you are about to act. Be care with your words and actions. Never forget that it is your responsibility not to hurt other people and do great things that could benefit other people. It is good to be remembered by people because of your good deeds instead of your bad actions.
This quotation of Victor will set as a reminder for myself and of how should I live my life.

  2. When I first read this quote from "Man's search for Meaning" by Viktor Frankl, I intuitively loved the phrase. Luckily it was already posted here, but as I read the phrase over and over I came to ask, is it attainable to be wiser that we are?

I may be young and inexperienced to oppose Viktor Frankl's belief, but through the experiences I acquired and as I near to finish student life I tend to have a different point from Frankl's. School life taught me a lot of things academically and life long lessons, I've come to realize that we become wise through making mistakes and experiencing it, that is how we learn and there is no shortcut - we cannot live and pretend that we had done things wrongly before, just like what Frankl believes.

Though, I'm not claiming that my understanding of the quote is right, but if it is right, I am not also claiming that what I believe is true to me then it must me true to all people. In general, I think if people are mindful of the choices we have then we can make better use of our lives.
